Alright, so here’s the thing. This is the season when more money is going out the door than coming in for most of us, anyways. There’s the vacations, and the lavish holiday menus, and the gift giving, and the doing up the house so the guests won’t think we live in the dumps.

If only we could afford to buy gold coins as gifts, then there would be less hassle. Just a thought. That’s why it’s good to be the king, to quote a line from a movie I saw long ago . As for mere minions like us, off we go creating lists and checking them twice.

The holiday shopping season is here, tra la la la la! This year, my shopping list is as long as my arm as I have made new friends to shop for. Now I’m wishing I’d listened to my friend when she asked me if I wanted to buy gold bars. She said it’s a good investment but I guess I procrastinated too long.

As it is, it looks like I’m going to blow my budget sky high and it’ll take me a ton of will power to not shop anytime I want to like I’m used to. Good thing I only shop during sale periods!

Are you a gold coin collector by any chance? I wish I had been. But I have a stamp collection instead which sadly isn’t worth half as much as gold. Now if my parents had had the foresight to get me collecting gold coins from the time I was a kid, I’d be a rich adult by now .

Gold is a very stable form of investment and appreciates all the time. So in these hard times, if you have a gold coin collection, you’re definitely in luck. If you don’t, you can always start now by going to the United States Gold Bureau to learn the fine art of becoming a gold collector.

Whenever I go to the bank, I tend to tune in to the conversations at the information desk if I’m sitting near it. It’s all out of boredom, of course, waiting for my number to be called. Today, I overhead some questions about buying bullion. Apparently this person wanted to purchase some as keepsakes for his grandchildren. Great idea, I say.

It’s better than leaving totally impractical stuff to your grandchildren, don’t you think? Gold is never a bad investment so it’s definitely worth putting away some money for something that your grandchildren and possibly even their children and grandchildren would appreciate.

The prices of everything have gone up again, overnight this time! Hard to believe, I know, because no matter how bad the economy, I guess we were all holding on to that little ray of hope that it will turn around soon enough. If only we’d listened to the old folks who told us to save for a rainy day. And that rainy day is here. It is raining outside now, literally.

Those with the foresight would have invested in gold coins long ago and not have to worry about a thing now. That’s why it’s good to plan ahead. Gold is one of the most stable forms of investment.

Hats off to my girl friend who gave up her full time banking career to venture into the stock market. Now she’s the one dishing out advice and offering consultancy if we so wish to do the same. Sounds interesting but like I always say, if you don’t have that much money to gamble away, it’s better to just stick with what you know.

I read that the Dow took a dip today which goes to prove my point. The stock market is a high-risk jungle and we really must tread carefully in order to come out alive. If you ask me, I would prefer to buy gold eagle coins as an investment instead. At least we know it’s stable and won’t come down like a house of cards!

Have you ever invested in gold before? Sometimes when I’m waiting in line at the bank, I can’t help overhearing the conversations going on around me. I ‘overheard’ recently that it would be wiser to buy gold bullion than to invest in cold hard cash.

Call me silly but all this while, I’ve thought of gold as being in huge heavy bars, like the ones robbers would form a chain and load into huge trucks in movies. Apparently gold is now available in more convenient forms like ingots and coins which is easier to store. Makes sense, don’t you think?

The 2010 Homebuyer Tax Credit that was to have expired November 30, 2009 has been extended, and that means you still have time to reap the benefits.

If you’re someone who has not owned a home in the last 3 years or buying your first home, you stand to receive up to $8,000 worth of first time home buyer tax credit.

On the other hand, if you’re a homeowner who has lived in your current home for 5 years, you could receive up to a $6,500 tax credit when purchasing your next home.

Imagine that? It’s like receiving a hefty discount off the price of your property that you could then spend on remodeling, refurnishing, moving in and what have you.

money talks by the pool

While we were lounging around the water park the other day, a couple of my friends confessed that they buy gold bullion as a form of investment. One of the guys works in a bank in China and he’s heard that the precious metal market is on the move again. So this is a good time to buy.

I’m happy for them but with all the commitments I have right now, I don’t think I could even afford to be buying gold to wear as an accessory, what more store them in a bank . Right now, I’m just content to sit in the shade and enjoy a dip in the pool.
