Wesak Day at the temple

This post was supposed to have been published the day after Wesak Day. I honestly thought I’d hit the ‘publish’ button but apparently not because I just found this still sitting draft. Duh!
At any rate, we got to the temple early on Wesak Day. Of course, our idea of early doesn’t even come close to early as far as temple hours go.
As you can see, there’s a whole sea of oil lamps that were lit by devotees who got there before us today. Lighting an oil lamp is significant of having the Buddha light our way as we go about our daily lives.
The temple has a donation box for the victims of the recent earthquakes in China. Many of the temples have actually toned down their Wesak celebrations this year to channel donations to the Sichuan Relief Fund.
Seeing as how the affected areas continue to be rocked by aftershocks and fears of further disasters due to the weakening of the surrounding river basins, the Chinese have a huge task on hand.
Whatever your religion, please keep China and also Myanmar in your prayers.

After reading this post you really inspired me to think about everything that I am blessed by living here in America and how much I wish I could help others like people in China out. So I am glad that there are still people in this world that care about other people that aren’t nesscarily living in this country and that anyone can help out if they put a little effort into it. So keep up the good work and hope you write more posts about this because the more people see posts like this the more positive news we get out there about people in other countrys that need our help and a post like this is one step further in the right direction. Keep up the good work and great posts.
