You know this joke about golfers who imagine their boss is the golf ball they’re hitting. Yes, everyone needs a way to let out steam in their jobs, don’t they? Some go shopping, some just sit back and wait to be fired

Well, I used to have a cactus sitting on my window ledge at the office. I’d look at it and water it a little when I was stressed at work from the crap which the Boss from Hell dished out on a daily basis.
My cactus, being spiky and strong, was there as a constant reminder to myself that I had to be strong and hardy (like my cactus), and that I had to stick with it no matter how thorny things got.
