I’m driving a taxi !

Now I know what it feels like to be marooned on a desert island. Sitting at home, no place to go, I’m like so frustrated here. The kids and I had big plans for the weekend. We were going to go to the midnight sales, see the fireworks and go on a food binge.

Of course, Truck (my beloved car and no, he’s not a real truck!) decided to spend the weekend at the mechanic’s instead. I can’t believe it. Truck leaving us high and dry like this… on the most exciting weekend of the year!

Wednesday, I was picking up the kids from school when all the bells and whistles started popping up on my dashboard – ABS, battery, airbag, brakes, everything was flashing. Ugh!

My CD started playing by itself. My air-con started going on and off by itself. OMG!! I had no idea why Truck was behaving like that! He’s usually so sweet!
taxi11To cut a long story short, the mechanic came to pick up Truck the next morning and left me his car to drive for the day.

OMG, the darned thing isn’t even a car!

It’s a freakin’ taxi with a red and black hood, for cryin’ out loud!!

The seats are yucky, the seat belts don’t work! There’s no air-con, no gas, no power steering!

taxi2It’s a shift stick which means I’m in big trouble. After driving an auto for so-oo long, I can’t even remember how to work a stick shift any more! Darn!

What’s crazy is that it’s not even a major problem with Truck. It’s just the long weekend.

I’m supposed to get him back today but I’m not holding my breath! *sob*

Still, what a great relationship you have with your mechanic. The last time I had car problems I ended up in a ‘fake’ taxi being driven by a fraudulent NYC driver. Too long and dreadul experience to post here, but suffice to say, I would have enjoyed the quiet comfort of the two toned faux taxi under my control.

Thanks Jane, I feel so much better now (LOL) though I still wish I’d gotten a car I could actually drive, not drag down the street in second gear, ykwim?
