No, we didn’t snag any free tickets this time. We paid full price for the hype, not the movie, I must say. We were so excited, we thought the movie was going to be great for sure.

Turns out it was a lacklustre production that seems to be a thinly watered-down version of the book, according to our resident bookworm, Raine. I haven’t read the book (yet, still trying to find time) but trust Raine, she knows what she’d talking about.

The movie is a far cry from the book, she says, all you guys who’ve not read the book might say it’s a great movie and all but if you read the book, the movie is a big letdown.

Not having read the book myself, just going purely on face value, I’d say the plot is over-simplified. I remember not quite being able to figure out the first movie because it was so dark and so complicated. I had to watch it a couple of times to really get a grip of what was going on.

But the plots have gotten simpler since. Maybe it’s to cater to the kids. But I would’ve thought since the actors are now grown up, they should be appealing to the adults instead. Hmmm.
