waffle in a brown paper bag

There’s something we never miss doing when we’re at Times Square, and that is, grabbing a waffle on our way home!

Forget those hoity-toity waffle places where you sit down at a nice little table and get served waffle with an assortment of fancy dressings and fruits.

Here’s the secret. This place is tucked away from the main concourse area on the ground floor. You won’t see it unless you go looking for it.

Located on the ground floor just outside the Cold Storage, the Sumo kiosk dishes out the best waffles in town at a fraction of the price of a sit-down waffle.

Their waffles come with a choice of butter, kaya (coconut jam), chocolate or honey filling. They’re strictly made to order. It takes a few minutes as they whip it up in front of you.

But you get a piping hot waffle that’s absolutely worth waiting for. What I love about it is when you sink your teeth into your waffle, the lovely filling oozes out gently and sends your taste buds into heaven.

The environmentally friendly brown paper bag it comes in is a classic in our society of plastic bags and foam containers. Nice touch. And it’s such a sweet sweet ending to a long day of shopping. Try it the next time you’re there.
