we ain’t tellin’

It’s no secret that all mothers and daughters have secrets, and we’re no different. My daughters and I sneak off on our girls’ day out (hence, the name of this blog) every chance we get. Without the two guys (Hubz and son) tagging along behind us going “are you guys done yet?” every two minutes, we’re free to crawl the malls, have a leisurely laid-back lunch of whatever fattening stuff we want to eat (heh heh), giggle all we want at fashion victims strutting their stuff, and try on clothes, creams and nail polish like there’s no tomorrow. I never did these things with my mom when I was a teenager. But I’m glad I’m getting to do them now with my two terrific teens, Raine and Skye. It’s great fun and lots of laughs. It helps too that we have very similar tastes in clothing and style, and we’re the same size so we can raid each other’s closets afterwards when we have nothing to wear. The guys don’t have to know how we spend our day out. It’s our little secret and we ain’t tellin’. Not till the credit card bill comes, that is

Ho fun! I love your story — I have two daughters too and we have some great times together. We’ve had some fun shopping days but also have taken some trips without Dad. Wonderful moments of sharing…

I meant “how fun” but “ho fun” has a nice ring to it too…

Sharing time with my mom is one of the best parts of my life. And I am no teenager!

@Rob
What a great name, wish I’d thought of that. His name’s Steev but I just might call him Thunder on this blog from now one LOL.
@Betty
Sounds great, let’s add this to the English books, shall we?
@gautami
Lucky you

I love hanging out with my teenage nieces- they are so much fun and they make me feel young again, too! I am glad you can have this time with your daughters!

Sounds like a great idea, being able to spend time with the girls. Having that one-on-one (or two-on-one) time must be a not-so-secret thrill.

Girls day out with my mom always ended up in a disaster because we are so different. I have a three year old daughter and I love the little trips we take now. I am looking forward to being able to make it even more special and more memorable for both of us.

@Jean
Yep, can’t wait to go on our next secret day out
@Regina
Ah, to be young again, yes.
@Patois
It does bring us closer and I think it’s important when they’re in their teens.
@January
Glad you had fun with your mom too.
Love your name
@Lisa
The bonding is wonderful, it’s great to start young. We did too
