nightgown or party dress?

Yesterday I saw a mannequin wearing this red dress which looked a lot like a nightgown. It looked like something my aunt would wear to parties.
Funny that an evening dress would look like a nightgown eventhough it’s worn for wedding dinners and other important functions. It had this long flowing skirt and sleeves which looked simply as if they would tear apart.
I can’t even imagine giving the dress a second thought but on the other hand, my aunt thinks its gorgeous. My other aunt who is very fashion-conscious also goes there to buy some outfits.
The boutique usually has very fancy and delicate dresses but I think this time, the wrong dress came into the wrong shop
